Much respect MJ

Just a little something I did in a hurry. The king of pop...wow

Since I started this blog I haven't posted much. That's not to say nothing has been happening, on the contrary the exact opposite has been happening. Most of the work has gone into writing and developing projects which hopefully will one day see the light of day. Just to stay on point I will start doing my B Side comic strip again and drop a few political strips like I use to. In the mean time and between time here's Putin.

After seeing the new Star Trek movie I was reminded how much I was into the TV show back in the day. Here is the inking of the new B Side comic strip and of course it's Star Trek influenced. Now I can't wait till I get the time to see the new T4 movie.

YK

I've always liked caricatures but I never thought I was really good at it. A few years later I saw some work from a few artist and started at it again. Before the election of Obama the political climate was pretty high and I dove right in. I'll post some old political cartoons once I start doing that again. For now I'll drop this sketch I did of my brother. I colored it in photoshop in a comic book style. I think it came out pretty good.

The End

After countless character development sketches I finally came up with something I was pleased with. This is the final sketch that would become the first B Side comic strip. I would later submit this to my school newspaper in hopes they would like my work. Lucky for me they did.

The middle

Somewhere along I decided to do a comic strip with the characters. I had to decide on a style that would lend to a comic strip. I went with big heads to emphasize facial expressions which can sometimes reduce the amount of dialogue needed to get the point across. Here the main character Tariq has a wild afro to give him a unique personality.

The beginning

As an art student I found myself constantly doodling in class. When I get a character I usually draw them over and over, which seems to last throughout the semester. One semester I got hooked on this one character and decided there was something special going on here. Pretty soon I created other characters to go along with the first one. Here's a doodle that started it all.
